The Basics

To help you navigate your life outside the classroom, this page includes information on ID cards, technology services, parking, housing & dining, health & support services and the bookstore.

Student ID Card

You are required to have an ID card to use the Library, access the Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center facilities, or print in any computer lab. For on-campus students, go to the Information Desk on the 2nd floor of the Hobson Memorial Union (check site for hours). For distance students, contact the Center for Extended Learning (800-852-7422 or cel@cp55586.com) and request a “Distance Education ID” without a picture.

Technology Services

Email

You will receive a BSU email account, which you are required to activate and check for all official communications. To activate, visit myBSU and select New Account Activation.

Wireless

Connecting to the BSU wireless network requires a username, password and proper configuration of your computer. Please contact (in person) Technical Support in Deputy Hall, Room 161 with a current and valid BSU ID to obtain your username and password.

Computer Labs

Informational Technology Services provides a number of labs for the university community. You will find computers in the library, some classroom buildings, and residence halls.

Student Services and Help Desk

Do not hesitate to reach out to the Student Help Desk with any issues or challenges you encounter; this includes distance students!

The Student Services portion of the Informational Technologies website provides students immediate information and assistance for topics such as email, D2L login, e-Services, etc. If you have a more challenging question that cannot be answered so easily, you may submit a “Help Ticket” to the Help Desk for further assistance. The Student Help Desk also provides telephone and walk-in support and assistance connecting to the BSU network.

Parking

The Office of Public Safety provides parking permits for lots on campus. Street parking is free but subject to the city’s parking regulations, and BSU provides ample disabled parking for those who need it. Here are links to a campus map and directions if you need them.

Housing & Dining

You’ll find many housing options on and off campus. If you live off campus you might want to use our campus lockers (managed by HMU) that are free to BSU registered students!

We have a number of on-campus dining options and many of the city’s best restaurants and cafes are a short distance from campus.

Beaver Bucks

You can deposit money onto your ID card for buying food and other things on campus. Visit the Dining Services Office, Cashiers Office (Deputy Hall) or buy more Beaver Bucks online once you’ve created an account.

Health & Support Services

We offer an on-campus health and counseling service facility for all students.

All students are required to have health insurance. BSU does not offer its own plans but can help you in finding coverage if you need it. Visit our Student Health & Counseling site for more information.

Bookstore

For textbooks, apparel, gifts and more, the BSU Bookstore is on the 1st floor of Hobson Memorial Union.
